Dentist

I drove to the dentist from work today. First off, it was jaw-droppingly beautiful. The clear sky, the mountains, the river, the rocks, the trees. I'm lucky I wasn't in an accident trying to take it all in. As it was, there was a whole lot of talking to myself about how gorgeous it was as well as some weird consonant combination sounds. (Hnghhh! Hhwwhhhh. Ffffffffnn.) Breath-taking. It almost made me forget that I was on the way to see the most feared of the land predators, the dentist.

He was nice though. And the place was fancy. I mean they actually had the lead vest for me to wear for x-rays! La-di-da!

But he said that my recent woes were due to that root canal I got in Barrow right before I left. (See April of 2011) Apparently, they did a great job with the roots, but they nicked the floor and didn't fill it back up right, because now I have bone loss and crazy infection and that's why my mouth is so unhappy. The bone loss is in the worst possible place to prevent itself from being fixed and an implant won't help if there's no bone to implant on and he doesn't want to file down my perfectly good teeth for a bridge, but there are options, it will take months and might not work and cost about $500.

I wish, I wish this had happened in Barrow when I could've paid for it without worry, but it didn't and I can't, and I'm scared it'll hurt and I won't be able to afford it and I'll have to borrow money from family to get it done, and I'm worried that if I don't, my whole head will rot off because that's how infection works in my mind. Gotta boil it out with listerine and redhot pokers. Gonna have to drive around in the autumn to get over it again.

If I could send you money I would, because honestly I have to tell you I think it would be a good idea to do it as soon as possible.

I had two teeth on the left side of my mouth that were giving me horrible pain and it just got worse and worse. When I finally went to the dentist he said it would cost some insane amount to save them so I just thanked him and walked out. Then they got even worse, and I got an infection, and finally I went back and said "We have to do something here." By then the teeth were so bad off that he agreed to pull them and I can't tell you what a relief it is to have those damn teeth out of my mouth.

I don't think your head will rot off, though I got terrified of that too. I mean, it sounds like your dentist is on top of it.

Long story short: It's best to get the work as soon as possible.

You're right. The appointment is for next month, which will give me plenty of time to dread it! And to hopefully start squirreling away some funds so it won't be terrible when I do have to pay it.

This is why when all my nerdy friends would sit around and talk about what Star Trek tech they wanted to live to see, I would always yell 'Non-invasive medical care!' Screw the teleportation and jump tech, I want to be scanned and healed from a distance. This isn't the dark ages! That would always derail it into Star Wars for some reason, probably because they knew I would have to admit that I wanted a rancor.

i know these feelings.

I am glad to know i am not the only one that has to be careful not to drive off the road, because I am struck by the beauty of the scene. I always wanted the replicators because, they can make everything, and I assume that would include most medicines. I Mist agree aoubt the medical scans though. Good stuff~!
