The ram has a new home! Woot!

And I wrote a Junker-centric Overwatch fic.

Well, It did snow. And I did have to reschedule all the conferences. And then I drove an hour to the meeting to decide what we should all do.

And at one point I fell on my knees on the slick concrete whilst carrying a vintage television set that weighs almost as much as I do.

I did get to hang out with the nieces and nephew though and I wrote a little < a href="https://31-days.livejournal.com/3332990.html">Beetlejuice fic.

So.

Ok, so it might snow, and if we get a snow day then I have to reschedule SO many conferences. It makes me sad just to think about all those phone calls. Maybe the snow can hold off til Wednesday when all this is done.

Also, the state may be going on strike if they can't get PEIA to cooperate. The last time the state went on strike was 1990 and I but a mere sprig of a girl. I don't want to do this again, but my mother didn't raise a scab and I wouldn't be able to face her ever again if I let someone else picket for me. So.

The good news is that I wrote a Shape of Water fic. The bad news is I had a good idea for yesterday's prompt but never got around to it. Guess I'll save it for Amnesty Day.

Friday!

I made it through two days of conferences. Still have two more to go.

I did write a 10th Kingdom fic in between meetings. In other news, I wished comeuppance on someone and lo, it has come to pass. I am torn between illogical satisfaction and ethical chagrin. On one hand, Hah! S'what ya get! On the other, I hope it really had nothing to do with me and my unkind thoughts.

Or do I? Because I know lots of people that could stand some minor misfortune. *glares at phone where the light blinks because local senators keep calling me. they don't seem to like it when I call them*

First 31_days fic of the year! It's a Watchmen one.

It's our third snow day of the week, which extends Christmas break nicely! No real snow, but the wind is nasty and it is very cold.

The good news is that I've started regular artwork again and I pray it lasts. It's been nearly three years since whatever happened to me sank in and I couldn't do the things I loved anymore. One of my resolutions was to finish something once a month, so fingers are crossed!

I alternate being productive with watching River Monsters on Hulu. The lamprey episode still gives me the heebie jeebies.

Ugh. People are so cranky. And that makes me cranky, and then I become part of the problem.
But, I did write a Pacific Rim. When is the next movie coming out again?

It's been a weird day! Midol got me through the worst of it, but I'm considering upgrading to something stronger. But I did get a Last Unicorn fic over at [livejournal.com profile] 31_days.

So there's that.

Somebody has re-written one of my old Watchmen kinkmeme fics to an Overwatch one. There are a few changes here and there, but a lot of the descriptions are word for word. I'm not sure how to proceed.

My first impulse was to ask why they couldn't at least give me credit, but I'm on my phone and it won't let me log on. I ended up being weird and vague, but I kinda want to see what they say. Is there a better way to handle stuff like this?

Three things I have learned on my summer job:1)Ducks are completely nasty. And 2) Not sleeping well because someone barks and/or whines every time I move, sigh, or give any sign of being there really ruins my attitude. It is Day 4. Two more weeks to go.

I can do it. I just have to start grabbing naps in the daytime. It’s hard for me because I am solar-powered, but I can’t do this many more days without cracking up. It doesn’t help that my car is breaking, the air conditioner is already out, and the estimate to fix my roof is in the thousands.

I did sneak some time in to write a Watchmen fic for [livejournal.com profile] 31_days.

Oh, and 3) is that if I ever get the roof, car, and AC fixed and paid for, I may want an irobot roomba. It’s adorable and the dog hair is gone.

Vacation

Today's fic was a Strange Magic.

My usual summer baking impulses are flaring up hard. Something about a vacation where I'm near the kitchen all day makes me think I could recreate the food in the Ghibli films, or Jake's Adventure Time sandwich, or all those Harry Potter House-themed cocktails.

In other news, I'm growing pumpkins and milkweed.

Back at the vet with Froud. Her face cancer is back and now she’s gotta go in every day this week for fluids. And I’ve gotta pay for it, which makes my stomach hurt a little. Not as bad as her face hurts, probably. Also, I wrote a Pacific Rim fic for the other day.

Fic of the Day is a Beetlejuice one and it's grimmer than usual. But it fits the prompt.

We went to Farmer's Day today. It was so hot that I was a little delirious by the time the parade was over. I ended up giggling with my Dad over Office Space quotes until the waitress brought our food. The theme for this year was "Farmers are Outstanding in Their Field". Some people were disdainful, but I love me a bad pun and cackled unbecomingly.

Bob Ross is on Netflix. Which means my first day of summer vacation was just booked solid. I did write a Watchmen fic for [livejournal.com profile] 31_days. Summer is usually when I don't write so much because of everything else going on, but the last few months have been a mad house so I haven't been able to write at all. Now that I have time, I'm going to try to do a little something as often as possible.

I used to watch Bob Ross with my Grandma. Just hearing his voice takes me back.

I’m in the gross, mouth-breathing stage of a head cold. I’m also incredibly grateful for that, because the bug that’s going around work is an explosive stomach virus. The nurse’s office ran out of spare pants for the kids. So, while I’m feeling a lot like one of the close ups from Ren & Stimpy, at least I’m not in a shivering ball of intestinal distress in the bathroom.

Also, I wrote a Beetlejuice fic for [livejournal.com profile] 31_days.

Also, also I get to do the prompts for March!
unknownfate: (let's not discuss it)
What a day.

Last day before the kids come. We have home visits tomorrow and as much as I work myself into a lather about them, they're never very bad. I still don't know if there will be one class or two but I'm doing all the visits just in case. I am so lucky to have the co-worker I do. She is amazing and driven and organized and I can usually only manage to do one of those things at a time.

But I hurried back to go turn in the fair entries with the clan and that was an ordeal in itself.

I made it home too late to finish mowing, but I did manage a Mad Max fic for [livejournal.com profile] 31_days. I'm not sure I have the strength for yard work anyway.

The end of summer that is. I have begun my annual "too-much-to-do-so-a-little-more-to-even-it-out-may-tip-me-into-madness" frenzy.

As one of those extra things, I have written a Strange Magic fic at [livejournal.com profile] 31_days.

So much to do! So much to think about! So what am I actually doing? Filling up my tumblr queue and watching clips of The Nightly Show on Hulu and writing fanficlets.

But, the good news is that I have finished all my fair projects.

Is it weird that I'm tempted to get a paid account just to use all my icons again? And I wrote a Mad Max fic over at [livejournal.com profile] 31_days and I don't have a Fury Road icon which bugs me for some reason.
unknownfate: (zcouldbeworse)
My power bill came in and I’ve had to go through all 12 stages of grief. I was hoping that I could use my tax refund to pay a chunk of my credit card debt, but it looks like the whole thing will be going to the power bill instead. I do not understand how a bill can triple in one month when the weather has been the mildest winter in three years. I just don’t see how that can happen. I know I can’t get out of paying for it, and I am not prepared to live without electricity, so I have to harvest some organs or marry a millionaire or something.
My short term solution is to go watch Strange Magic again, and make Valentines for my class. Also, I have finally realized that it is February and have written a Beetlejuice fic for 31_days.

Today, I thought about what Freddy Mercury would've been like if he was still alive. What would he be like old? What other things would he have created? I sang along really loudly with Somebody to Love to lament what might have been and celebrate what actually was. Because that was pretty great, too.

Also, I wrote a Pacific Rim fic a few days ago. And now it is the weekend once again! Thank goodness.
