Mystery Meat

So there are polar bears in town again! And I was thinking that I didn't remember polar bears showing up this early and wondering what would be bringing them in at this time of the year. Then, I looked out the window.

There's a dumpster across the street and someone had dumped what looked to be like a dead seal next to it. Not IN the dumpster, just beside it. I can't be sure it was a seal because it didn't have a head or any limbs, but whatever it was, it a hunk of meat about the same size I am. It was sort of seal-shaped. I don't know what it was, but a bear would probably think it was edible.

The trouble is, a bear would probably think I was edible too!

Poor Timothy and Amie... The saddest part was when the man who analyzed the tape of their death was telling it to Timothy's mother and advising her to destroy it without listening to it. So sad!

But yes. I was terrified for the poor man all through watching the special on him. Even knowing what happened.

We have no bear spray. I've never even seen any in town...

Yes, it is very sad. Especially for Amie, who was already afraid of bears and just along for the trip.

You should order some bear spray. After all, you're in charge of protecting the tikes from bears right?? ;) You can clip it to your belt and spray it from there. It shoots a blast up to 30 feet. And, since bears only take about 1.5 seconds to reach you once they charge, it's a lot faster to depress a button than to lift and aim your shotgun!! I read in that book that the spray will stop a charging bear, but shotgun blasts usually won't, they'll just make the bear angrier.

Oh, and don't buy the cheap stuff, it doesn't work. You have to buy the real deal, which is expensive, but it's worth it since, well, it actually stops bears..!
