Yesterday we drove the 6 hours to DC to put Mom on the plane. Sometimes I wish we lived closer to an airport. On the way, we stopped at Endless Caverns which was a lot of fun. Our guide's name was Carla and she reminded me a lot of [livejournal.com profile] lithrael. Especially her voice.

Anyway, I'm getting some of my stuff together for the trip to AK...I keep finding my old address books. I have several, all dating back to years ago. With all the places we've lived and all the people I've known, I rack up a lot of addresses. Some write me back, some don't. Some just change addresses so often that I run out of room! I ran out of room entirely in the G section when Rob first went into the navy. Eventually, the address book will get full and I'll go get a new one.

Everytime I do get a new one, I go through the old one and get all the addresses of the people who DO still write me out of it and they go into the new one first. Then I just have this old address book, full of people's names who I'll never see again. Who COULD write me if they WANTED to talk to me again, but for some reason don't.

I can never bring myself to throw the old book away. So it goes in with my old yearbooks and all the previous journals and address books. Just another record of people who were part of my life for awhile and then left it. Kinda depressing, really.

speaking of addresses....
