It is even more done.

Yay! NaNoWriMo is completed!
I admit I cheated a little. The story was pretty much told at 40k, but that left 10k to squeeze in. That's a lot of words to haul around if you don't really need them. So I babbled on about things and reiterated and added sensory details and more insight into things unsaid and whole extra chapter about something that happened behind the scenes and I still only had 46k! At 11:18 pm, less than an hour ago and with time running out, I decided that since two separate epilogues hadn't done it, I would add on the previous prologue from three years ago that I never finished. I tweaked and rewrote it so that it would fit in and added a whole lot of vampire description. That only left me 700 words short. Augh! To be so close and with only a few minutes left before midnight.
It occurred to me that I was going to a lot of trouble for a story that was already finished and for nothing more than the thrill of saying I did it and that I was likely to edit the crap out of it later just to make it bearable.
So, I went to a previous chapter from even longer, cut and pasted the last few paragraphs and italicized 'em to be my opening pro-prologue.
So technically I did write all 50k words, it's just that a few hundred of them weren't written this month. And I don't even care anymore! Hah!
Anyway. Tis done. I'll give the thing a proofread tomorrow and see if it's too padded to be read by humans and if it is I'll strip it down again and then post it. Then I can go back to my regularly scheduled fanfiction.
