I need a Midol and a massage....
Oct. 29th, 2008 09:15 pmPain and annoyance!
We have two and three foot snow drifts in the driveway. LB is a tough little truck. She has the 4-wheel drive and many years experience driving in Barrow, but she wasn't making it through that. So I went out and shoveled out the driveway. Exhausting! And frustrating because there is still more wind and snow to come. But I was able to get back in the driveway.
Two hours later, I had to go conduct the second round of parent-teacher conferences. It's not fun for teachers either, I promise. And to do that, I had to shovel out the driveway AGAIN. So by then, the back and arms are aching. Spend three hours in a little plastic chair and I staggered home for a hot shower and some Exedrin. The driveway had drifted up a little, but nothing LB couldn't handle this time.
And this morning! Had to dig it out again. Took three tries to get LB through the drift. Grumbled almost as loudly as my back muscles. Chased 18 Halloween-crazed four year olds the first half of the day, more conferences the second half. Went home. Was cheered that the snowplows had scraped my street. Was NOT thrilled that they had piled the snow right next to my driveway so the wind had blown it all into my parking spot again.
I sighed and got the shovel.
Here's hoping the wind changes. Just a little. I'm not hoping for Mary Poppins. I just don't want to move an 8x12x2 patch of snow in the wee hours of the morning so I'm not late for work again.
You know what might work....? A flame thrower... That might solve quite a few of my problems!
