May. 7th, 2006 02:40 pmThe folks are alive! They showed up at about 10 last night, cold, hungry, and a tad crazed. They told amazing stories of ravines and prancing caribou. Dad saw a big black creature that he thinks might've been a wolf, but it didn't stick around long enough for them to make sure. Not like the caribou, whose idea of escape is run alongside you instead of away. Prey animals usually aren't terribly bright, I've noticed. I suppose they'd be terribly unhappy if they were. Perhaps it's for the best.
Getting Mom out of her coldwear was kinda like unmasking Darth Vader. She came lurching in, all bundled up and with her helmet on. She couldn't move her arms very well to get the helmet off, so I had to help her. She was all rosy from the cold and stuttering and waving her arms like the robot from Lost in Space. Poor souls. But the pictures were pretty cool.
