I once read a short story about someone who fell sick and never got better and just wasted away and no one could tell why. Then the poor person died and they were cleaning out the bed linens, and the pillow was so heavy... And when they shook out the pillowcase it wasn't a pillow in there at all, but a giant, bloated tick that had been feeding off the sick person's head the whole time.
Think of that the next time your ear is pressed to your pillow and you feel some of the stuffing shift. Uh-huh.
The reason I am thinking of that is that I seem to be being drained into my chair. I've had a vampire couch before. Also called the thorazine couch, once you were on it, it took forever to get off it again. Chores to do? Maybe in a minute or two. Or tomorrow. Hungry? Maybe there's someone you could call to bring you food. Bathroom? You can hold it a little longer.
And it's happening again! I've already talked myself into going to get groceries and car heaters tomorrow after work instead of today. I'd say I needed a nap except I have to sit up to keep my head out of reach of whatever might be in the chair stuffing.
