It's funny because it's true.
Nov. 7th, 2007 10:04 pmHappy Inuit Day!
Some of the community elders came around to talk to the classes. It started out, pretty much the way I expected it to, with a "When I was your age..."
And it turns out that when these ladies went to elementary school, there weren't any streetlights, so they had to walk in the freezing cold, in the DARK, with polar bears everywhere, and they had to make their own clothes, and play with rocks.
And to prove it, one of these little old ladies pulled out two rocks and starts to juggle one-handed. I was impressed. Then, she tossed them to the next little old lady who did it too.
Turns out, that instead of jumping rope, they juggled beach rocks. There were even little songs and chants to see how long you could keep juggling.
Pretty cool, I have to admit.
