It's beginning to smell a lot like Xmas...
Aug. 7th, 2003 06:12 pmIt's that time of year again. All the Christmas catalogs are getting their catalog pictures done now. Which means all the designers are fighting to get the bays with fireplaces in them. One designer even blasted Christmas carols to 'get in the right frame of mind'. As if Jingle Bells in August wasn't distracting enough, they decide that nothing says the holidays like a roaring fire. The only trouble is that these aren't REAL fireplaces, but prop ones... Add some designerly enthusiasm, some ceramic fire logs, and a bottle or two of lighter fluid, and what do you get? Well, that depends.
If you are the photographer, you get a happy holidays kinda shot with the happy fireplace and the cheery Christmas thing. If you are the designer, you get a building full of people annoyed at you, and if you happen to be minding your own business in the prop room, you go half out of your mind from lighter fluid fume inhalation. (the remaining half will be lost to the incessant yuletide music later in the day.) It's a living, right?
