I'm supposed to be at Dragoncon!
Sep. 3rd, 2007 12:07 amBut instead I'm here, studying the math part of the Praxis test. And there's something very wrong with me. I can't place decimals right. I know how. I just manage to do it wrong every single time.
I've taken Chapter 1's review practice test FOUR times and I'm still screwing up little weird things. When I finally (FINALLY!) manage to get the decimal in the right place, I mess up something stupid like simple addition so that it comes out one tenth off.
Or worse, I'll go back to double check that I didn't make a dumb mistake and there will be something completely bizarre in the answer space. It'll be a number with nothing to do with the question. Did I leave my body whilst writing and not know it? Do I need to make a hat out of alunimum foil??
What is wrong with me that I can't do this?
I was in the gifted program. I graduated high school. I graduated college. Why the HELL can't I do grade school math??? Granted, it's many years after the fact, and I wasn't exactly good at it then, but STILL!
Maybe I need sleep.

Date: 2007-09-03 12:12 pm (UTC)But do preschoolers require decimal point skills? (I hope not).
Don't feel bad. I was never able to do grade school math. Those neural connections never formed in my brain. Draw a cat= yes. Add fractions= forget it. You don't even know what a fraction is. Cats are cute. Why don't you draw one?
I visited a palace today. It was similar to the Forbidden City except smaller with more blue paint instead of red. I got more from it than that but I'm tired and not capable of describing anything at length right now.
It is too bad that you weren't at DragonCon today. It is even worse that you are doing a math test when you weren't at DragonCon today. Who would've thought? (However, the money is good... So I'd say it's worth it to miss one year's con).
Talk to ya later.
I know what you mean....
Date: 2007-09-03 01:02 pm (UTC)If I had to guess what's wrong with you and that test, well, it's midnight... and you and I both know that isn't the best time of day for you. You are an excellent student and you can pass that test. Try not too stress out and get yourself worked up over it. Make a milkshake or some hot chocolate with lots of marshmallows, and keep on going.
I know you will pass the test.
