unknownfateMy sister's wedding was yesterday. I and my other sister were bridesmaids. It was a beautiful ceremony, short and very sweet. My only complaints are that the bridal party nearly froze to death before hand!
They piled us all into this little apartment across the alley from the church to get changed. First of all, we had to go up two flights of tiny little stairs to get to this condemned apartment room. (And back down again afterwards in heels and carrying a train!) There was a hole in the ceiling and a pane missing from one window. Both were covered up, but an icy draft still came from them. The only heat in the place was an oven that had been turned on and left open.
Now, I really did expect Barrow to be cold. And to be honest, it is not as cold as usual. It's the wind that's the trouble. It just slaps all the life out of you! I don't know how many degrees below zero it is. All I know is that when we had to run from the apartment building to the church, my sister's veil was blown to one side and IT FROZE THERE!!! We had to bend it back into shape! And we were locked out of the church! So we had to stand there, gasping and shivering and cursing in a most unbridesmaid-like manner.
And the groom's party? They got a nice toasty room to change in inside the church! They got to wear many layers! They never had to venture out into the blizzard! I hardly call that fair.
Heehee, but it's over now and everybody can relax. All is well! Except that it is still friggin' cold.
