Well, last night was beautiful. The moon was full and incredible. I nearly went off the road looking at it. I still haven't decided the best way to recreate it. (pastels or watercolors?)
As it turns out, there was a lunar eclipse last night, so there were people hanging out on the freeway shoulders to see it. I had to stop moon-gazing for fear of running one over. People were piling out of their cars at red lights to look at the sky. It was amazing.
The downside was that in the Stygian darkness of the NC countryside during an eclipse, I couldn't read my map or any street signs. So I missed a turn and drove around for eight hours, lost and blind, and never did manage to find my way to Carpe Nocturne.
So, no concert for me. But I did see the moon, the eclipse, and got to talk to a surprisingly good-natured gas station attendant. She didn't know the way either. The truly sad part is that I was on the right street, I just couldn't find the right building. So I looked for it until an hour after the latest possible starting time and then gave up and went home.

I also saw several plantation-type homes that had been remade into restaurants and inns. Very pretty. But next time I think I'll go with a navigator.
