I found out that the person who nearly ran me over in the snowmobile yesterday was actually taking part in the disaster drill. He had just killed six people and kidnapped the mayor in a simulation and escaped under the police's very noses. I guess I would've been #7, had it been a real incident.

TODAY I was nearly killed when a truck stalled at a stop sign. The guy started to wave me around so I went. Then, the truck decides it can go after all. So, it does. Somehow, I was forgotten in all this. Not even the oncoming cars seemed to notice I was still there. I don't know what's going on this week. Maybe certain stars are in alignment. Maybe I offended a gypsy. Whatever the case, if things don't start getting better, I'm going to stop leaving the house.

By the way, the disaster drill was a dismal failure, in case you hadn't guessed. Nobody responded the way they were supposed to. I heard rumor that a hospital spokesperson told the drill coordinators that the hospital staff couldn't be bothered to participate. They couldn't be prepared in time for a drill. What are their chances of being prepared for an actual crisis then?

I don't want to die up here. Especially not during a drill.
