Six Things I Miss

unknownfate1. Firefly Trees . The fireflies at home like to hang out in the trees. From my bed I can see one of our huge maple trees and at night, the fireflies would light it up like fairyland.
2. Mountain Wind. We live right at the foot of the mountain and the winds would just come howling down through the trees. It was like early in My Neighbor Totoro.
3. Wildlife. Since we've let the pasture grow up, the animals have moved in. You can sit on the deck and see deer stroll by, ground hogs, raccoons, owls, hummingbirds, squirrels, gray foxes, and once, a coyote.
4. Plain ol' landscape. I miss trees and hills and valleys and any kind of landscape more than ankle high.
5. Fast food!. There is none! Nonnnne! No Taco Bell! No Subway! No Quiznos! No Sonics! NO IHOP! *weep!*
6. Lack of shopping. Not to be girly, but there is nowhere to shop! No Barnes and Noble, no Borders, no Waldens, no Books-a-million, NOTHING! Just a shelf of donated paperbacks in the corner of the Kitta Second Hand Store. It makes me sad.
