Today was the first day of work. The kids won't show up for another two weeks, but we're gonna need that time re-hash and fight out all the changes from last year. The only change that affects me is the dress code, and I think after the first two weeks, I can just display the paint-playdough-chili-bleach splattered dress clothes and go back to my jeans and hoodies.

I had to haul around a lot of furniture so I'm sore and a little shakey. It's amazing how heavy a file cabinet full of construction paper is...

A lot of new teachers are unhappy. They were brought up here with promises and now they're stuck with what the district is willing to live. Teachers who were told they'd be in 2nd or 3rd grade have paid the money to get up here and are then being told that the only opening for them is special ed in the Pre-K program. So a few of them are upset. Go figure.

They're making you wear nice dress clothes to your job now? I wouldn't like that (one: I don't like dress clothes and two: they cost more than jeans and t-shirts). I think your chili-splattered plan is a good idea. What is the dress code now anyways?

Is it preschool you work in or some other grade level? (I imagine it's preschool, four-year olds n' all).

I want to see Lady in the Water (is that the right title?) since you gave it rave reviews. I'll be gone for two weeks though (where there are no movie theaters...or much else...) so I'll have to probably wait till it comes out on dvd anyways.
