The Xmas Games

unknownfateIt's official. Barrow made it to the Top 5 List of Worst Places to spend New Year's Eve. I'm fairly certain it's high on that list. I've been working the Christmas games this week, from 630 pm to 3 am, only last night it was 4 because the man in charge went home and went to bed and didn't leave us the key to lock up with. Tonight I go in at Midnight to work til 830. I'm expected to come in again at 630 to midnight. I expect to go stark, staring insane.
It doesn't help that I've caught 'The Cold'. I blame it on standing in open doorways surrounded by shrieking hordes of unwashed little germ-bags. By that, I mean children. People bring their kids to the games and just turn them loose. It's 2 friggin' am and the place is full of kids jacked up on sugar and running the halls like chimps escaping a mental testing lab.
I think any kid not a legal adult should be fitted with a shock collar as soon as they come in, so that when I tell them for the 5th time to stop fighting in the hall and they ignore me for the 6th time, I can just give em a few volts and send em back to sit with their parents. Of course, I also think that the games should be kept at decent hours, but no one listens to me.
