Home Again, Home Again
Jun. 25th, 2014 08:06 pmI think I did ok with teaching VBS. The kids liked the songs so much, they couldn't decide which one they wanted to do for our last night program and ended up doing four of them. I'll call that a success.
We also went to the beach. By we, I mean the whole clan. I was sharing a room with my twin nieces (age 8). That wasn't too bad because they are early to bed bookworms. The only hard part was that I was the only one with a food restriction. So I had to watch everybody eat good food while I didn't. I was pretty good most of the time. Thursday night at Captain Benjamin's Seafood buffet did me in though. I ate everything I had ever wanted there.
I love the beach. I could spend all day in the water if I didn't burn to a crisp. So I have to trot out every hour or so to dry off, reapply, let the 110 spf sink in for the 15-20 minutes the bottle recommends, then slosh back out. It was my 4 year old nephew's first time to see the ocean and he loved it too. He was fearless. He's the only kid I know who might've needed one of those bungee leashes in the water.
Special thanks to
eternalchimera for house and cat-sitting for me. I wouldn't have been able to go on the trip at all if it wasn't for you!
