Jul. 5th, 2006 09:56 amI saw a spooklight last night. Any kind of unexplained light in the house, I call a spooklight and I think this one qualifies.
I was trying to go to sleep without much success because I had had a Dr. Pepper for the first time in ages and the caffeine wasn't giving up without a fight. There had been a lightning storm earlier so I was watching the window to see if there were any more flashes. Then, I saw some light right outside the door in the hallway. It was green and kind of a shimmer, like it was being reflected off moving water.
I watched it for a minute and then reached for my glasses so I could see what it was. The glasses didn't make it any clearer so I sat up for a better look. As soon as my head raised, the light just dissolved away. My first thought was that my head had blocked whatever light had been casting it, but then it occurred to me that there wasn't any light to block. We live out in the sticks here. There are no passing cars, there are no streetlights, or light from other houses. The sky was completely overcast so there wasn't any moonlight either. And it wasn't lightning, because it just hovered there and rippled a little. No flashing or flickering or anything.
While I was laying there thinking about it, it came back, It was the exact same thing as before. It looked like a little patch of green light reflected of rippling water. It was in the same spot and moved around very gently without really leaving the spot. I watched it for awhile and tried to figure out what window or mirror or whatever it could be coming from. I couldn't figure it out, and when I moved again, it vanished again.
So what the heck was it? I don't know. It's bashful, whatever it is. Or motion-sensitive. Or something!
