Red Riding Hood Drabble

I wrote a drabble! The 100 word kind. It began as a one chapter story about Red Riding Hood years later, but I only got through two paragraphs of it. From there, I shortened it to 100 words. It was harder than I thought. I do love to blather on.

She had been a child when it happened. She still dreamed of it, of bloodied sheets and firelight along the edge of an axe. She still woke up gasping, remembering other panting breath against her neck. She wasn't a child anymore. The feeling of being watched still haunted her. The wind still sighed through the trees. Leaves still skittered along the ground. The whole forest still seemed to move around her. She still expected to see him, a dark shadow in the whirlwind of autumn. She still missed her Grandmother. She still took the path through the woods.

I can't decide if it's sexy or that's just my sensory deprivation talking.

I really like it! It's very evocative. I especially like that last sentence, with all the implication that she still didn't learn the good girl lesson.

Thanks! I'm still undecided if it's the wolf or the woodsman she expects to see.

Oh good. It's not just me, then.
