Phew!

So tired! We went to the Mountain State Art and Craft Fair today. Very cool. It was cloudy for most of the morning but about 2 pm, it got hot and sticky. I don't even want to think about how hot it was for [livejournal.com profile] blackvelvetclad who was stirring boiling pots of vegetable dye down in the Heritage Village.

There was a lot of cool stuff to see and eat and hear and all the other senses, too. The place I spent the most money was at the Zephyrus silver jewelry booth. I got an Ogham necklace for myself and a few things for gifts. I also got a book of WV ghost stories. We also cruised the food booths for the samples. There's some darn fine BBQ sauce to be had, and I'm not that much of a BBQ fan! I sampled two kinds of tea, a kind of slushy, two or three kinds of salsa, and then we found candied nuts, and homemade fudge, and apple dumplings with ice cream... Wow. It's probably a miracle I can even move.

Let's see, we got to hear a lot of nice music. I sat through part of an auction, but I got hungry/bored/cranky and realized that the seat of my pants was getting wet from sitting on a damp haybale and went to see the Best in Show Expo instead. There was artists with paintings, and pottery and carvings. I saw the most beautiful wooden puzzles all in the shape of mythical animals. They were making lye soap, kettle corn, hand-churned ice cream, apple butter, the whole works, and the grounds smelled wonderful.

Tomorrow's the 4th! We got a parade and a picnic and then maybe the beach?

All those activities sound like a lot of fun. Have you had a chance to get any rest yet? By the way, I sent you an email. Maybe I can catch you online tommorrow.
