Soles of the damned.
It was Spirit Week at Ipalook. Monday was Wear Red Day. I forgot over the weekend and didn't wear red, so a red ribbon was found that I might go adorned. Every child in the place had to come pet my ribbon and ask me where I had gotten it. I finally started telling them I won Best in Breed. They were duely impressed.
Tuesday was Crazy Hair Day. I went with the whole snork thing, a pig ponytail right out of the top of my head. It didn't work though. It just slid to the back of my head like a normal ponytail. Not crazy at all! So, I twisted various ponytails all weird all over my head. It actually looked more cool than crazy. Wow, I thought. Where's
blackvelvetclad not that I want to show off? But it wasn't crazy so I had to take it out. I ended up with three ponytails all sticking out at random. Dad looked cool though. Kinda like Billy Idol. Sneer and all.
Wednesday was Inside Out day. We all wore our clothes inside out. It was also my sister's birthday. We had steak dinners and personal bombshells. Wee!
Thursday was Wear Pajamas Day. So I did. I looked fabulous. I also borrowed
cloverbutt's sharky slippers and they were a big hit. All the kiddies wanted to pet them or save me from them. (Shark slippers. You put your foot in the mouth and it looks like they're chewing on your ankles...)
And Friday was the big Halloween party... I dressed as a witch. Black skirt, sweater, pointy hat, jackolantern necklace, and then I borrowed some pointy witch shoes for the occasion. It took me about an hour to realize they weren't witch shoes at all, but hell shoes! Damned soles, as it were. (Hee. I so clever.) We went to the gym for a costume contest where all the grade gathered. The K3 kids were promptly horrified by the ghastly costumes chosen by the older kids and cried the whole time. Poor little tatertots... But we stuffed em full of sugar and sent em home happy, and that's what matters!
Also tonight was the Dewline Halloween party. Having grown weary of the witch costume, (especially the demon shoes...) I went instead as the Bird Flu. I ftook my one hat and made a big orange beak and some sad groggy eyes and then I taped a thermometer to the underside of the beak. Not a bad bit of costuming done in five minutes. I got the idea from Dad, but then I gave him his idea to go as a Mad Cow, so it was fair. Now I go to nurse my poor crippled feet.

Bird Flu and Mad Cow... Now that's creative. I hope you took some snaps?

I'm going as a ventiloquist's dummy. That's enough to scare the bejabbers out of anybody, sane or not, sober or not.
But tonight I go to see a Queen tribute band. I also ate a metric tonne of picnmix, so I need to dance it off.
