$2300 is a terrible thing to waste.

Ok. Remember when I was all stressed about getting rehired because the office that's in charge of the paperwork that I need to GET rehired wasn't sending them, and kept saying things like "We need all those letters of recommendation again. And the original copy of your Praxis scores because the xerox copies are just tacky. And a signature in blood. And your firstborn." the whole time?

Well. The same person behind all that also recommend some summer classes for me. I am in the distance program which means I take online classes because I live in Barrow most of the year. She knows that. So I ask "These are distance classes right?" I am assured that they are. So, I call up registration to register. "And these are distance classes?" I ask again, just to be sure. "Yep!" says the cheery registrar person. 'Kay.

A few days ago, I get the class schedule in the mail. Under the class location section, it says DIST. I am ready. I payed extra to get my books in time. I am all set to start.

THEN Guess what?

No, really. Guess.

Yesterday, I get an email telling me I need to get hold of the housing department to make sure I have a room for the summer. Because class starts Monday. "But these are distance classes!" I protest.

Turns out, they are NOT. FANtastic. So I start calling around again for an explanation. The office that can get it to me is not answering the phone. I've left three messages so far and I'm about to start the email campaign. There may not be time to register for an actual distance class. There may not BE a summer distance class. But I am going to want my money back.

Oh wow

Well, ticked off enough to mispell paid anyway. Yeesh. Still. I haven't bitten anyone today...

What the hell? These are some really horrendously dumb people. I hope you can get what you need, and get your money back.

Well, maybe it's me. I seem to attract or be attracted to situations like this... Kind of a ward vs. technology for my whole life. Sometimes things go to pieces in my favor. Not this particular time, though. At least, I haven't seen the 'for the best' ending yet.

CRIPES! You've been very clear in your demands and requests, and all they've provided you with is a bunch of bureaucratic double-dodging. I would recommend that you SUE their incompetent butts just for causing your grief and for wasting your time. Then I'd talk to all of their superiors and ask how they can allow such nincompoops to work for them. Write to your Congressman! Find out who's responsible and get them canned! (I have to suffer whenever I screw up on a job--why should they get a free pass because they work for a bureaucracy?)

Sorry...this just peeves me royally.

Oh, me too! The good news is that my HR director at work is as peeved as I am, (she has been trying to get my paperwork taken care of) and has told me she's taking it up with the dean. (which I have misspelled twice as 'dead' for some reason...) So hopefully we can get this whole thing taken care of without anymore meltdowns.

This sounds quite bad... I hope you CAN get your money back even without suing 'em.

It seems to be going all right... Getting signed up for new classes is what's being a pain now.
