Once Upon a Time, Not So Far Away

Wow. Just wow.

I've been reading this.

I'm a folklore nut so I can't help but be blown away by what these kids have woven out of old stories and their present situations. (I also can't help but wonder about what could really be appearing and whispering to them.) The article is 11 years old, and I have no idea how 'true' it is. True or false, though, it's heartbreaking.

You just care. I havent finished the article yet, but I was moved by the fact that the 4 most dangerous things that a child might encounter (and not know how dangerous they are) are doorways for demons. Folklore is an important teaching tool. I hate the idea of "politically correct" stories. I dont see a thing in the world wrong with Grimms fairy tales, I mean the old hardcore ones for children. Those stories open a dialog and we learn alot from them. They warn us and teach us of real world dangers and consequences.

If I dont stop, this is gonna turn into an essay... so I'll stop now. :)
