unknownfate: (WRITING)
I was sitting here, trying to write out a fanfiction gap (I have the scene before and after written and now I must bridge them!) with my music on shuffle and all of a sudden, Shel Silverstein's voice tears through the reverie and scares me half to death. I had forgotten that I uploaded the poem cd from work and Mr. Silverstein's voice is startling after humming along to Marceline's Daddy song.

My bonkers thought of the week is that if I die, my fanfiction will be unfinished. That occurred to me on the way to lunch. So, I've gone all typety, to try and get to the end before I die. I have about 6 WIPs floating out there in the Watchmen fandom alone, so I'd better get crackin'.

Anything by Stan Rogers, even the sad ones.

Probably a used book store. Or a movie theater. Or on a road trip. Or maybe Busch Gardens! If only there was a way to combine them all...

I think it might've been The Pledge with Jack Nicholson. Fifteen minutes in and I knew I was ready to go, but friends had bought my way in and they seemed content to watch until the final black, depressing end scene, so I was stuck.

Runner up might be Lord of Illusions that I saw in the dollar theater in Sarasota. And that one mostly irritated me because it could've been very cool, but for whatever reason it just kinda wasn't.

I'm never able to pick one book. The several I have read most often are:

Good Omens by Gaiman and Pratchett
Lord of the Rings by J.R.R.T
Watchmen by Moore and Gifford
Watership Down by Richard Adams
Dreams Underfoot by Charles DeLint

My old flannel shirt. I wear it over t-shirts and sometimes I sleep in it by itself because it's just so comfy. I wore it when I met Red Green.

I have been videotaped tearing around my parents yard with a blanket tied around my neck, a paper mask tied on with string, and with a stick in each hand to slash the shape of a Z all over the place. Yep. Zorro.

Whodathunk me and Batman would have something in common?

Macy's Day Parade. Even I'm just eating peanut butter and kool-aid for Thanksgiving, I have to watch the parade. I got to be there in person when I was seven and that was long enough ago that my clearest memory of it was being cold and that the street vendor pretzels are not as good as they smell. But it was awesome enough to implant the need to see it every year.

My favorite campfire story is Tailypo. My favorite ghost story is Red Eye. Also, I have recently discovered The Slender Man.

I do believe in spooks. Tailypo has been been told to me since I was a kid. Didn't scare me as bad as Rawheadandbloodybones, but still spooky enough to be fun. Red Eye I found later and it struck a familiar chord. And just last weekend, I stumbled across some pictures of the Slender Man. Spooky stuff. And fun.

I'd want a Mappy from Dragonhalf. They're all cute and cuddly until their owners are threatened and then RARRGH! Grizzly bear!

I have not, shall not call up a ghost.
Not with jam, not with toast.
I do not summon here or there,
I do not summon anywhere!
No afterlife spoilers please,
I'll beg on my hands, I'll beg on my knees.
I get enough spooks without seeking them out
No seances here! I insist and shout.
I don't want to hear what the passed on have said.
I don't like to hear from the talkative dead.

Thank you

It looks like transformation, like something ripping off its ragged outer layers with both hands to show something sleeker inside.

"Surfin' Bird" by The Trashmen. I HATE that song... so it's actually a relief to have "More Than a Feeling" by Boston in my head today.

I don't know what the heck it is, but it sits up in the chimney and giggles. Theories abound whether it's a fae, ghost, or demon, but all I know is it freaks the cats out, and pretty much anyone else who hears it. Doesn't seem to do any harm. At least it's happy, right?
