So here is the five minute comment fic meme, yoinked from [ profile] rosehiptea. I did this one over at her lj. I know lots of good writers, so I figured I would try it too.

1. Clear your schedule for five minutes (or longer if you have time, I'm not gonna turn down more fic).
2. Then look under the cut tag, where you will find ten prompts, all of which are song titles (selected at random from my iPod WMP library iTunes library.)
3. Choose one of the prompts, and - using any appropriate fandom/character[s] (meaning ones you think I might enjoy) - write. (Note: As far as I'm concerned, you can write anything you want, really...)
4. Reply with your teeny weeny story in the comments to this post.
5. Repost this in your journal and make your friends write for you.

So, the question* was do only cool people wear trench coats or are they cool because they wear a trench coat? I wrote down the first 10 characters I could think of who always/often wear the mighty trench, and I have to admit, most of them are pretty awesome.

1. Rorschach

2. Paladin Anderson

3. Bigby Wolf

4. Inspector Gadget

5. Castiel

6. Conner MacLeod of the Clan Macleod

7. The Crow

8. Beetlejuice

9. Gambit

10. Gally (and Ido)

*The Question gets honorable mention too. As does Nny.

Fic of the Day: Hellsing

Grah, it is cold. But I have been out and come in again. There is soup in the crock pot and I think tonight's the night the ghost shows come on Syfy (still hate spelling it that way) so here's to stayin' in and keepin' warm.

Still sick. I was pretty sure I had a fever the other night, but there wasn't a thermometer in the house since the last move, and it was too late to get one, so I took NyQuil and crashed. And now I have a fever blister, so I'm pretty sure I was right.

In the meantime, I shop for Halloween costumes. Yes, it's early. But since we have to do everything by mail, you want time to make returns or whatever before the big day. My dilemma is that I work with preschool kids, so I need a costume that I can move* in, and that isn't too scary, or 'sexy'. Finding an adult woman's costume that isn't making an attempt at sexy is difficult. Since there's a 50s costume party coming up, I thought I'd find something like that, but the 'Flirty 50s' have ultra mini poodle skirts and 'June Cleavage' which is open to the waist. That's not going to work. Sexy witches, sexy pirates, sexy cheerleaders, sexy brownie scouts(?!?), sexy Vikings, sexy ghosts, you name it.

It's also going to be cold in Barrow at the end of October. There will be snow, and most likely a biting wind. If you're going to wear a sexy costume here, it had better be sexy zombie so you can pretend the blue tint and the patches of frostbites are part of the look.

*Bend over to tie shoes, zip coats, etc. Climb up to get them off the jungle gym when they lose nerve and get stuck. Crawl under tables to pull them out when they decide that if they can't have the blue scissors, then they'll just get underneath the furniture and scream. Sprint across the room to snatch them away from the plug outlet when they try to stick a safety pin in it. That sort of thing.

Wrote a Hellsing drabble today. Also walked to the library. My legs were burning at the halfway point but I perservered. Twas cold and windy, but the wind was to my back, so I went on anyway. Didn't find the book I was looking for. (The Dragaeran books by Steven Brust have been very highly recommended, but alas were not there.) I did however impress the librarian with my knowledge of how many HP books there were and in what order. Bwaha.

I ran into the missionaries on the way back (which was decidely worse since the wind was to my face and my glasses kept freezing up.) They seemed in good spirits for children sent out into a blizzard to convert the unwilling. Poor things.

The good news: One more week of school left. I got the DMV thing taken care of finally, finally.
And this whole week in the [ profile] 31_days I’ve done fics about the girls in fandoms.
Tuesday’s was about Stella from 30 Days of Night. Wednesday’s was Integra from Hellsing. Thursday was Meg from Dog Soldiers. Friday was Sophie from Howl’s Moving Castle. Saturday was Sovaz from Tanith Lee’s Tales of the Flat Earth. Sunday’s was Katara from Avatar the Last Airbender. And today’s is Lorelei from my own silliness, Bloodties.

The bad news: It’s Monday and I overslept. There’s nothing to pack for lunch and I have sooo much to start packing and putting away…. Yeesh.
